Goals of the Friends
The goal of the Friends is to support, coordinate and enhance the activities of the Library and to stimulate and promote good library service in the community by doing the following:
- Working in cooperation with the librarians and the library trustees in support of the library
- Maintaining an association of persons interested in good library service
- Assisting in development, promotions and completion of library services, facilities, programs and community services
- Soliciting gifts, bequests, endowments and other financial contributions above and beyond the library’s annual budget
- Acting as liaison between the community and the library, and increasing public awareness of the library resource
Examples of the Friends support:
- Sponsorship of Programs for all ages throughout the year.
- Sponsorship of Summer and Winter Reading Programs
- Purchase of equipment for the library such as ipads, kindles and a 3-D printer
- Purchase of passes to several museums, and partial reimbursement to admission to other New England museums.
- Purchase online services for the library such as Kanopy, Great Courses, and Digital Magazines.
- The Friends sponsor several fundraisers each year which include the Annual Appeal in early June, and the Pancake Breakfast in July.
- The Friends also sell cookbooks “A Taste of Sunapee” which are available now for purchase.
